Captive Primate Safety Act – H.R. 8164 / S. 4206

Prohibits private ownership of nonhuman primates; exempts research institutions and accredited zoos. It would make it illegal to own, transport, sell, or acquire primates for personal use, but exempts research institutions and accredited zoos. The bill is intended to address safety concerns and animal welfare issues associated with the pet trade in primates.
