Pending Federal Legislation: |
Animal Cruelty Enforcement (ACE) Act (Bill Number Has Yet to be Assigned for 118th Congress - this bill was H.R. 1016 in the 117th Congress) This bill would establish a new section in the Environmental and Natural Resources Division of the Department of Justice to enforce federal laws concerning animal cruelty and establish an “Animal Cruelty Task Force” to weaponize the Department of Justice against American citizens. The Cavalry Group will be working to OPPOSE this legislation on Capitol Hill. We will keep you apprised on the bill number and any updates. Prevent All Soring Tactics (P.A.S.T.) Act - (Bill Number Has Yet to be Assigned for 118th Congress) The PAST ACT was written and sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States, and animal rights organizations that seek to destroy all animal ownership. The PAST ACT vastly expands the jurisdiction of federal inspectors and calls for oversight without funding. The PAST ACT does NOTHING to address the problem of unethical participants who are already in violation of existing laws. PAST ACT amends the Horse Protection Act which already imposes strong rules and regulations on the Tennessee Walking Horse Industry. PAST ACT issues penalties based on the standards of the animal rights groups. The economic impact of PAST ACT would be detrimental to farriers, veterinarians, feed and tack companies, restaurants, motels, retail stores, trailer/truck dealers, and many more businesses. If passed, The PAST ACT will remove all pads, weighted shoes, and all action devices from show horses of three specified breeds—Tennessee Walking Horse, Racking Horse, and Spotted Saddle Horse. At a time when Congress is looking for every possible way to create jobs and stimulate the economy, this misguided and deceptive bill would destroy what is left of the walking horse industry and do NOTHING to stop cruelty! Let's enforce the laws we already have -- we don't need NEW laws! This is just another deceptive bill written by HSUS to amend the Horse Protect Act enforced by APHIS at USDA inspected horse shows. In a nutshell, it would eliminate the pads, action devices, and weighted shoes; there by banning the performance horses within the Tennessee Walking Horse shows, including the Colorado Spotted Saddle and Racking horses. Now, if you’re against the performance horses, give some thought to the precedent this bill would set, if passed. This bill is the gateway to banning countless number of equine training devices. The Cavalry Group will be working to OPPOSE this legislation on Capitol Hill. We will keep you apprised on the bill number and any updates. Horse Slaughter Ban (Bill Number to be announced for 118th Congress) The proponents of this legislation have created the dire circumstances for horses without providing alternative solutions. Animal Wellness Action and HSUS are attempting to say that the drug residue in horses going to slaughter is an issue for human consumption. We all know that under FSIS inspection laws, livestock cannot, and do not, go to slaughter if there is even a trace of any drug residue. HSUS is attempting to hide behind the propaganda that meat would be tainted. This ban on U.S. horse slaughter would be the final death blow to the horse industry. It would close the borders for transport of horses to slaughter in Canada and Mexico. The Cavalry Group will be working to OPPOSE this legislation on Capitol Hill. We will keep you apprised on the bill number and any updates. | Reintroducing More Canadian Grey Wolves (Bill Number to be announced for 118th Congress) This legislation would make it illegal to harvest/kill/defend your animals and property against wolves across the U.S. Animal Wellness Action has submitted amicus briefs with their so-called environmental coalitions which are seeking the delisting of wolves on the federal register. As you know, Canadian Grey Wolves are very large, aggressive, and destructive animals that are wreaking havoc on farmers, ranchers, and even suburban housewives and their little purse dogs -- and even children playing outside. This is no laughing matter. This legislation shows total disregard for private property. Interesting that Pacelle has pulled in the Native American Tribes to support him on this issue… historically, the tribes have stood with us on the issue of horse slaughter. The Cavalry Group will be working to OPPOSE this legislation on Capitol Hill. We will keep you apprised on the bill number and any updates. Tourism Without “Trophy Hunting” (Bill Number to be announced for 118th Congress) This legislation has been attempted in Congress several sessions. This legislation is a perfect illustration of the fact that the anti-hunting animal rights zealots are clueless about true conservation! What I find especially troubling about this legislation is that it also bans “parts and pieces” of exotic wild animals to be imported into the U.S. – such as semen. If this continues to be blocked through the animal rights groups and legislation like this, extinction is imminent for many species. The Cavalry Group will be working to OPPOSE this legislation on Capitol Hill. We will keep you apprised on the bill number and any updates. Anti-Dairy Legislation to Amend the Farm Bill (Bill Number to be announced for 118th Congress) Animal Wellness Action, specifically, Wayne Pacelle, has created a campaign vilifying the dairy industry claiming that animal milk is an unhealthy (and cruel) alternative for school children. Pacelle claims, “The USDA and the dairy industry are promoting cow’s milk in schools, providing a market of over 50 million consumers for the milk industry and training the palates of kids who will be consumers for decades to come. Yet the industry is pushing a product that millions of kids cannot safely and comfortably consume, with lactose intolerance rates of up to 75 percent of African Americans, 60 percent of Latinos, and 90 percent of American Indians and Asian Americans.”Reintroducing More Canadian Grey Wolves (No Bill Number Assigned as of this writing) This legislation would make it illegal to harvest/kill/defend your animals and property against wolves across the U.S. Animal Wellness Action has submitted amicus briefs with environmental coalitions in federal seeking the delisting of wolves on the federal register. As you know, Canadian Grey Wolves are very large, aggressive and destructive animals that are wreaking havoc on farmers, ranchers, and even suburban housewives and their little purse dogs and even children playing outside. This is no laughing matter. This legislation show total disregard for private property. Interesting that Pacelle has pulled in the tribes to support him on this issue… historically, the tribes have stood with us on the issue of horse slaughter.
